Liz Titone is a photographer whose work emerges from slow looking, patient inquiry, and an insistence that observation is a kind of superpower. Trained in photography and book arts, she moves through the world with equal parts curiosity and precision, drawn to the tactile and the ephemeral—paper fibers, plant structures, the way light grazes a surface. Her images linger in the spaces where the mechanical eye of the camera meets the intimacy of close study, revealing the quiet choreography of the natural forms that surround us. She lives and works in Kingston, NY.

“This photograph, one of a series, reflects the intimacy of the natural objects that quietly shape my daily routines. They are ubiquitous and familiar, things I pass while walking my dog or notice from the car window, and they invite a closer kind of attention when I slow down enough to really look. For this series, I worked entirely with the flatbed scanner. It lets the eye roam from what is pressed close to the glass to the deeper recesses of the form, creating a depth that encourages wandering and sustained looking. It is a way of spending time with what is often brushed past, inviting a deeper encounter with texture, shape, and subtle variation.”
