“I adore setting a table for meals, particularly dinner. I alter the table setting for each dinner. Perhaps one evening, a pink vase with flowers, another a series of vases without flowers and yet another, a sculpture or display of food. Each arrangement differs. Morandi is one of my favorite artists for the heartfelt stillness he provides the viewer through the arrangement of vessels. This painting of fish is a still life of an everyday encounter with provisions for a meal on my table. Domestic paintings have been with us for centuries and it is my pleasure to continue that tradition.“
