After graduating from the Rhode Island School of Design, where they spent a senior year in Rome as part of their European Honors Program, Fredda Brennan designed printed textiles for NYC based manufacturers of textiles for home furnishings and apparel. Her retirement coincided with the beginning of Covid, when she started painting and drawing again, mostly staying home.
“I looked out windows and painted and drew my perspective of the framed landscapes there. I also took that approach to my most frequented daytime spaces: kitchen and studio, making a series of pastel drawings and collages of many of the everyday objects in those two rooms, choosing things for their shapes and colors, and trying to convey the experience of looking with new eyes at what might be overlooked just because it's always there.”
